End of the Season!

Spring has sprung and my season has been finished for some time now, upon my return I took some much-needed time off both mentally and physically. Going back a bit, after my last update my team and I traveled to Oberstdorf, GER for the Nordic World Championships. It looked a bit different than normal due to COVID. For example, no fans were allowed at the events and we did a COVID test every other day. However, when it really comes down to it and you put your bib on its time to go. My personal performance in the competitions at World Championships did not go as I planned or wanted. I did show positive performances in some of the training and prep but did not execute properly. Lesson’s Learned. It was an honor to represent WCAP for the first time at a Championship with my teammate and friend Ben Loomis. This season was the culmination of the commitment we made to represent the US Army through the WCAP program. With our entire team (Men’s & Women’s Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping & Staff) all staying at the same hotel for the whole event in a type of bubble, we all got to spend more time together than we usually do. Our competition circuits only overlap a few times a season, even less so this year, so it was fun to get closer to our teammates and thrive off of everyone’s energy. Check out some photos from World Champs.

Based on my results on the Continental Cup in Lahti, FIN I had earned a spot to start the remainder of the World Cup competitions after World Championships. Unfortunately, due to come COVID related cancellations that was only one weekend of competing. Considering how the year has gone I was just glad it was happening at all. The weekend off gave me some time to train a bit more and enjoy some spring weather. I then headed to Klingenthal, GER for my final competition of the season. Typically, Klingenthal struggles with snow level and weather conditions, however we were pleasantly surprised with mid-winter conditions. Through the weekend I learned a lot, had some solid results in qualification rounds but didn’t execute in the competition as I wanted. After a long year physically and especially mentally I was ready to head home! Check out some photos from my last weekend of competing and training.

After my break from Nordic Combined my team and I are getting back into training and enjoying spring in Utah! We will start training as a team again soon and weather dependent going on some training camps, stay tuned for media and info on those but as always follow my social media accounts for more up to date info!
