As always summer is blowing by with lots of activities making it great! To start the month of July off my team and I traveled to Steamboat for a training camp and the annual 4th of July festivities. We were able to get some quality jump training in while in town, this was a great way to build a base to keep working from. On the cross-country side of things we did our annual Fish Creek time trial, a 5 Mile uphill time trial (950ft Climbing). It is always brutal but nice to have a yearly bench mark to see how we are doing, I made improvements on my time from last year which I was very happy about!
On the 4th of July we always have a full day of activities, starting with a shorter race on Main Street right before the parade. This is always a super fun race as there are tons of spectators lining the entire course. After that I participated in the parade which I haven't done since I was much younger on the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club's float. This year I got to ride on a welcome home float for Steamboat Olympians in town at the time. It was an honor to participate in that and great to see the support from my home town! After the parade we then have a long-standing type of competition with handicaps based on ability level so that younger athletes can give us a run for it, and trust me they do! I had a great time in Steamboat spending time with family and friends along with a very productive training camp, check out some more photos!
After our training camp in Steamboat we traveled back to Park City. We have gotten some great training in this month and our time here has flown by. Getting back to jumping the larger hills has been super fun and great to get some air time! We have also had a very productive time working on endurance and our cross country skiing. We will finish of this month with US National Championships here in Park City (next week) before our next camp begins. Before that I will be traveling to Vermont for a quick family trip, I will then meet the team in Minneapolis for another visit to the Mayo Clinic and some testing. After that we will be traveling to Europe for the month of August, we have lots of great training and some competitions on the plan so be sure to stay tuned for more!
