July in Park City & US National Championships

Since my last update I have been training in Park City. It was incredibly hot, so we typically started our workouts a bit earlier in the mornings to avoid too much of the heat, regardless we had awesome training conditions. The month of July absolutely flew by which always ends up happening. My European coaches took turns traveling to the US to be with us, a great way to stay in constant touch with our staff. We also had Nick Hendrickson coaching us as well, which is a new addition and was a tremendous help on the Cross Country side of things. We all worked together and got through some tough but productive weeks of training. Below are some photos from the middle part of July and training in Park City.
I wrapped up July and my time in Park City with the annual Springer Tourney week which included US National Championships. This is one of the biggest weeks of the summer in the Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping community because everyone across the country travels to Park City to participate. The National Teams do a testing and coaching day with the younger athletes, it is a super busy day but very fun to connect with the next generation of our sport. For US National Championships we competed off of the 90m hill in Park City, it was good and fair conditions for everyone. I had a solid performance on the jump and would be starting the race in 2ndplace 20sec behind Ben Loomis, and 2 sec ahead of Taylor Fletcher. The race was one of the more brutal races of the year as we raced in the middle of the afternoon and it was shockingly hot out. I skied a smart race for myself but was unable to hang on to Taylor, I finished the day in 3rdplace which I was happy with. Overall a great week with the USA Nordic community and a good competition day for me, check out some photos below.
After Nationals I packed myself up and traveled to Vermont where I spent a short week with family and friends. I had an absolute blast as always and was able to get some much needed rest and rejuvenation for my body and mind! I then traveled to Minneapolis where I met my team for our second Mayo Clinic trip of the year. It was another successful trip of testing at incredible facilities and with an awesome staff. We did more field (plyometric) testing along with things such as flexibility, mobility, balance, VO2 max, Lactate testing, blood work and body scans. They are continuously working with our team to develop new ways to test our physical abilities and find ways to make us better athletes. I am very excited about this partnership along with my entire team. I am now in Europe for the rest of August with my team, we have some training planned along with the Summer Grand Prix circuit. Be sure to check out my social media pages for day to day updates on that! Check out some cool photos from our team testing at the Mayo Clinic!
