I am now back in Park City after a long day of travel home from Planica. I am very psyched with how the camp went as I was able to make some great improvements on both my jumping and my cross country skiing! This camp was slightly different then most camps that we do as we stayed in Planica for the entire two weeks we were in Europe. We did do several trips to the different jump complexes around us, those being Kranj's K100 and Villach's K90. Both of these complexes are less then 45min away which is very convenient. On this trip it rained what seemed like everyday which was actually a nice change from the hot dry weather here in Park City. We did another scenic hike above the ski jumps to the top of one of the peaks, which made for an amazing view of the surrounding valley (see the picture below).
As I mentioned before the first week that we were in Planica we went to a suit factory and got measured for our new suits. In the middle of the second week we went back to the factory and got our suits fitted to make sure they fit us perfectly. The picture to my left is my suit! Doing this type of preparation just gets me more and more excited for winter. To wrap the trip up we had a small team competition on one of our last days in Planica. We jumped on the K125 in Planica and then drove to Villach to race on the 2.5km loop. I had an ok day on the jump hill starting in 4th and a fairly good day on the course maintaining my position of 4th place overall. I am very excited with how this camp went as a whole, I was able to make some great improvements and better prepare myself for the winter season. I have recently created an athlete Facebook page and if you have not yet liked it go give it a like here! Check back soon for more updates on my Fall.
