Preparing for Departure
Since my last update I got the opportunity to compete in my first Continental Cup (COC) competitions (In Park City, UT) in two years! I went into the competition with several goals result wise that I came very close to achieving. I was hoping to get a top 30 result and I ended up with results of 34th and 32nd. I did not jump as well as I could have. Due to the lack of snow in Park City the skate races were held at the local tubing hills making for some brutal climbs up the tubing lanes and some extremely fast descents. My skate races were not my best performances but they fairly good and my best international results thus far in my career so I was happy with how the weekend played out. I was even more excited with the experience that I gained and the things I was able to learn from my more experienced teammates that will help me to perform at a much better level in the future.
After this event I returned to Steamboat for the holidays and some home town training! This was a great week filled with tons of new snow and lots of hard training with all the local athletes. I then departed the day after Christmas for Lake Placid, NY for the final World Junior Championship qualifier of the year. I did not jump as well as I could have but I had an good enough jump to put me into contention. I was able to race to 2nd place overall which I was very happy with. With this result I solidified my position on this years World Junior Championship Team. After this event I traveled to Park City, UT for some final preparations before I depart for Europe. Tomorrow I will be traveling to Norway with teammate Michael Ward, we will be meeting Ben Berend and Colin Delaney for COC events in Norway, Sweden, and Slovenia before World Junior Championships are upon us. I am very excited to get the start at these competitions and I look forward to learning a lot and putting my best effort down in all events! Stay tuned as I will continue to update my website as I go to these events!
