Summer Training!

Just like that it feels like I snapped my fingers and summer is halfway done. So far it has been a quality summer of training progression. My team and I started the year off with a training camp here in Park City, we still had the snow to make for some fun endurance days! I always love Spring in the mountains as I can ski in the morning and then be able to bike in the afternoon! It was fun to start the team training year off doing our workouts in so many different modes. After that camp concluded we had some time to train on our own and recover from the camp. I was able to get out of town and spend some quality time with family I haven’t seen in a while. Check out some photos from our Park City camp.
For our next phase of training my team and I packed our bags and headed to Planica, Slovenia a place we are all quite familiar with. It is a great facility for a short and focused training camp and the perfect place for our first ski jumps of the year. I say this because they have a great progression of hills (size wise) to start on. At the beginning of the year it is important to lock in the foundations you will build upon for the rest of the year. The weather was great in Slovenia as well, the mountains were so green it blew my mind on a regular basis. It also made for some enjoyable endurance and team building days! On our way home from Europe my team and I flew to New York City for a week of testing with our team’s new medical partner, NYU Langone. It was quite the culture shock coming from a small town of about 1,000 people in the mountains of Slovenia to NYC. While in NYC we went through some physical and medical testing to help our coaches and us make sure we are training smart and in good health. Photos from this camp below!

Men's US Nordic Combined National Team 2021/22
Upon returning home I had little bit of time for personal training and recovery. It is always nice to come home and have a quick reset after a quality training camp. My team and I then headed to Steamboat for the annual 4th of July training camp and competitions. I had been about 3 years since I was last in Steamboat during the summer, so it was nice to get back for the annual festivities. Our time in Steamboat is always a great way for my team and I to do some community outreach and see the exciting potential the younger ranks of US Nordic Combined has. We ended our time in Steamboat with some fun competitions on the 4th of July. It was also the first time since COVID that we got to compete in front of crowds again, and man was it fun. The scene in Steamboat on the 4th of July is one of a kind and I always have a blast representing my hometown! After Steamboat I headed home to Park City. My team and I will be here for the rest of July, going through several training phases before annual competitions here in Park City at the end of the month. Stay tuned for more!
