Winter is so Close!
Since my return from EU for our final Fall training camp I have been in Park City for the majority of the time with a weekend trip to Steamboat for a very fun Oktoberfest style fundraiser! It was a wonderful fundraiser and a fun one at that! Thank you to everyone who came out to support USA Nordic Combined at this fundraiser, we really appreciate it! I was able to stay in Steamboat for a couple extra days after the fundraiser, it was wonderful to visit home after what feels like a long time away. The weather in both Park City and Steamboat has been getting colder and colder which means I am that much closer to getting on snow! The idea of being on snow getting ever closer has put a new level of excitement into me and my team! I recently received my new Madshus Cross Country skis and boots for this upcoming winter (pictured below) which means its time to start prepping them for snow! Below is a picture of my new Madshus gear and my setup for doing wax prep!
Now that we have concluded our summer jumping here in Park City, the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) is working very hard to get enough snow on the hills for us to start jumping on snow as soon as possible! We are now waiting on the weather to give us enough in the valley to start skiing on the cross country trails here in town. The weather hasn't given us enough to start skiing but I am praying for the snow gods to unload on Park City so that we will be able to start skiing soon!
I received some exciting news recently that I am now passing on! I was named to the World Cup (WC) team to start the season at the first two events of the year located in Kuusamo, FIN and Lillehammer, NOR! I am beyond pumped to have this opportunity and I plan to take advantage and perform my absolute best! I am very excited to be joining Taylor Fletcher, Bryan Fletcher, and Adam Loomis at these events! The season will kick off in Kuusamo on November 28th & 29th with two individual events, the weekend after will be in Lillehammer, NOR on Dec 5th & 6th with a four man team event followed by another individual event! After Lillehammer the four of us will travel back to Park City where some of us will compete in the Continental Cup (COC) events here in Park City Dec 11th, 12th, and 13th (all of which are individual events). My plans following the Park City COC events is not yet determined but I will keep you updated! As the first competitions draw closer I will post some more info on the upcoming events and how you can watch them live and some cool photos of the venues! I am very excited to get into the competition season and I look forward to sharing how it goes with you!
